Global Day-Ahead Electricity Price Dataset

The Electricity Price Dataset provides structured electricity price data for 40 countries (including the USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Brazil, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, and others), organized in a folder-based hierarchy. Each country has its own folder containing multiple CSV files, each representing year-wise electricity price data. Additionally, the parent folder includes a Price_Unit_by_Country.csv file, which specifies the pricing unit (e.g., USD/MWh, EUR/MWh, JPY/kWh, WON/kWh, INR/MWh, and so on) used for that country's data. The dataset is particularly useful for energy economists, data scientists, and policy analysts studying global energy pricing patterns.

To assist with data exploration and visualization, sample Python and MATLAB scripts are available at the following GitHub repository: https://github.com/d3m-lab/Energy-Price-Data-Research. The scripts include instructions for reading data across folders, handling price units using the Price_Unit_by_Country.csv file, and generating visualizations, such as time-series plots of average daily prices. Researchers are encouraged to review the Python and MATLAB scripts in the repository for step-by-step usage and examples of analysis workflows. This data set was first published in Mendeley Data [1].
