Description
This report introduces the alpha release of User Information Services (UIS v1), which involves
creating a mobile app serving as the main User Interface (UI) to the SOTERIA platform. It aims to
improve safety and user experience for Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) in micro-mobility settings.
Following SOTERIA's dedication to realising the European Union's Vision Zero for road safety, the
app utilises insights from previous project submissions (D1.2 | Requirements and SOTERIA
architecture, D2.1 | Safe mobility data space and simulation platform, D2.2 | Explainable accident
and demand prediction analytics, and D3.1 | VRUs and micro-mobility safety services V1) to offer
VRUs vital information and features.
This document details the development approach followed for the SOTERIA mobile app, a core
component of the VRU and micro-mobility safety services within Work Package 3 (WP3). It details
the user-centric design of the app, informed by prior research into the user requirements, to
empower VRUs with the knowledge and tools they need for safe and responsible travel.
UIS v1 lays the groundwork for integrating user-centered information services developed in the
SOTERIA project that aim to enhance the safety of urban mobility. This enhancement in safety is
achieved through the promotion of well-informed decision-making among various target groups
of VRUs, including pedestrians, cyclists, bikers and people with disabilities among others, without
excluding smaller groups like mopped users or other modes of transportation. The document
offers insights into the methodology followed for extracting users’ requirements, the app's
functionalities, and its contribution to achieving SOTERIA's overarching goals.
