Description
This article traces the evolution of Western dragons from their etymological roots in the Greek “Drakōn” to their mythological embodiment as serpentine guardians and monstrous adversaries. Drawing from ancient Greek mythology including the tales of Typhon, Echidna, Hydra, and Ladon the narrative illustrates how dragons transitioned from sacred serpents to demonic creatures guarding treasures, eventually to be slain by noble knights. These transformations reflect the Western cultural consciousness surrounding fear, heroism, and the unknown.
