Architectural Elements For Healing Spaces

Description

This design research paper examines the impact of key architectural elements—specifically natural light, views of nature, color, and acoustics—on the creation of healing spaces within healthcare environments. The paper reviews existing literature and proposes practical design solutions, including strategic window placements, the integration of rooftop gardens and other nature-accessible spaces, and methods for acoustic improvement. It also addresses the importance of cultural considerations in the application of color. The findings suggest that a thoughtful integration of these elements can significantly enhance patient outcomes and staff well-being. This work includes original drawings to illustrate design concepts.
