Description

The initial technical paper, which is also in program of 37. Conference CIGRÉ
Serbia, provides an overview of the basic technical parameters and characteristics of the new
turbo generator Unit B3 in TPP "Kostolac B", rated power 412/350 (MVA/MW), which was
first synchronized to the Serbian power system on January 26th, 2024.
In this paper, which is continuation of already mentioned one, emphasis will be given to the
scope of electrical and other testing as a part of prefabrication and fabrication stage and final
acceptance testing (FAT) performed in manufacturer facilities as well as site acceptance test (SAT) and performance test after final installation of new generator Unit B3 on site in TPP
Kostolac-B, before trial service. Finally, the scope and results of warranty testing before
handover from EPS are also presented. Further, the platform for testing of the parameters of
the assembled generator in the factory before delivery, as well as modern method for stator
bars dimension checking and technique for modal analysis of stator endwinding stiffness are
described.
The scope of testing and the guaranteed values of the parameters are defined by the contract
signed between the supplier and the buyer of the generator (EPS AD), and all tests were
conducted in accordance with the valid international standards for testing rotating electrical
machines. The test results confirm the required quality because the values of parameters and
characteristics of the generator are within the defined limits. The results of these tests should
serve as a fingerprint for all future prophylactic tests.
