Description

The transportation industry is comprised of various sectors, including road, air, sea, and rail transport. Among these methods, rail transport is known as one of the safest. However, the possibility of accidents can never be reduced to zero. One of the most common causes of accidents in this type of transportation is the phenomenon of derailment, where the wheel deviates from its path on the rail and falls to the ground. Contrary to the simple definition of this phenomenon, many factors play a role in its occurrence, and by examining them, one can understand the complexities of the dynamics of vehicle movement on rails. Derailment can be divided into two categories: sudden derailment and gradual derailment. This book primarily focuses on examining how gradual derailment occurs and the various criteria presented to prevent it. This book can be used by undergraduate and graduate students studying railway engineering or mechanical engineering.
