Manifestations of Sainthood in the Life of Russian Orthodox Believers
Description
The study of religious concepts, doctrinal developments, and theological disputes among different denominations has long attracted scholarly attention. However, the practical impact of these doctrines—especially sainthood—on the daily life and rituals of believers has been less frequently examined. This article explores how the doctrine of sainthood in the Russian Orthodox Church, which is closely connected to the veneration of icons, manifests in the everyday religious experience of believers. To this end, the article first investigates the official status and role of saints from the Church’s perspective, and then analyzes the various ways in which the doctrine of sainthood influences the daily life and spirituality of Russian Orthodox adherents.
