OAEI 2004 (Ontology alignment contest) benchmark tests (oacontest12)

This archive contains the benchmark tests used in the Ontology alignment contests anticipating the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI [1]) 2004. It corresponds to the data set oacontest12 released on 2004-09-05. The goal of the benchmark test library is to offer a set of tests which are wide in feature coverage, progressive and stable. It serves the purpose of evaluating the strength and weakness of matchers (by being progressive and wide coverage) and measuring the progress of matchers (by being stable and reusable over the years). It consists of a the systematic alteration of one seed ontology in the bibliographic domain.
The archive contains:

• index.html: main documentation file
• Numbered directories containing each test ontology (onto.rdf) and reference alignment (refalign.rdf) as well as their renderings in html and the initial ontologies (for the 3xx series)
• xslt: XSLT transformations for generating the tests (2xx series)
• build.xml: ant file for generating html
• *.sh: various shell scripts
• refs: referenced exteral ontologies (foaf, ical)

This data set was initially available on the OAEI web site. It has been converted into a Zenodo dataset in July 2025.
