The Imperative of Scriptural Review in Biblical Research Studies: A Proposal for Paradigm Shift from Literature Review

The purpose of scriptural review is to develop biblical insights, principles, theories, and concepts to inform decision-making, problem-solving, identification of Theowordiness gaps or word gaps in existing research, develop research questions, and inform research design from a biblical frame of reference. Scriptural review brings a deeper understanding and correct interpretation of God’s word. This ground-breaking paper proposes and explores the necessity of a paradigm shift from traditional literature reviews to scriptural reviews in biblical research studies. The paper argues that a scriptural review is essential for accurate biblical interpretation, theological understanding, and effective scholarly writing in biblical research studies. However, the author asserts that tripartite or triangulation reviews can be conducted for a comprehensive and nuanced understanding, but scriptural review takes precedence over other types of reviews because the Bible is the fulcrum on which biblical research or theological studies is based. The paper also intends to demonstrate the degree of scriptural citations in some seemingly biblical Christian academic works to determine their Theowordiness.
