Description

This entry contains the full set of materials used during the Máni @ SDU Astrodynamics Workshop, held on July 3rd, 2025, and co-organised at and by the University of Southern Denmark (SDU Galaxy) and Aalborg University SATLAB. The workshop focused on hands-on learning in astrodynamics using ESA's GODOT software framework, with practical exercises in orbit propagation, trajectory configuration, and interplanetary transfer methods.

The objective of the workshop is to support the pre-phase A of the Danish-led Máni Lunar Orbiter Mission by increasing the student engagement in mission analysis and further supporting the Danish Space Strategy (2025-2035)

Participants were guided through the installation of GODOT on Linux systems, configuration of simulation files in YAML format, and the application of Lambert’s problem for computing Earth–Mars transfers.

Educational content draws on ESA’s official GODOT Python documentation [1] were extended for the Tyr mission configuration for the methods of Orbital Determination and the Lambert Solvers methods, both of which were adapted and extended for the Tyr mission case study.

These materials include:

  • The main instructional document used during the workshop

  • A supplementary astrodynamics booklet with conceptual explanations and homework problems

  • The official agenda detailing all sessions and learning objectives
