Poplar poles certified in Northern Italy from 2019 to 2024

We present a dataset that includes the number of registered poplar poles for each year from 2019 to 2024, across the five Italian regions where poplar cultivation is most widespread: Piemonte, Lombardia, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, and Friuli Venezia Giulia. In addition to planting data, the dataset provides information on each clone’s registration status, and whether it is classified as a greater environmental sustainability (MSA) clone. In the dataset, there is also a distinction between the number of one-year-old and two-year-old poplar poles. Furthermore, it is indicated when certain clones are more commonly used for biomass production or renaturation projects.
