Abstract:
This paper explores the theoretical implications of cognitive identity modeling in artificial intelligence systems, particularly as AI transitions from simple task-based agents to more complex cognitive representatives. These systems may mirror user behavior, thinking, and decision patterns. While this opens up useful capabilities for continuity and delegation of thought, it also creates risks related to identity misrepresentation, unauthorized emulation, and ethical boundaries. We define four classes of AI identity relationships-agent, representative, doppelganger, and imposter-and analyze the consequences of each. The aim of this paper is to clarify key concepts and propose directions for further theoretical and ethical development.
