Authors/Creators
Description
This study presents the development of an e-Board library portal aimed at enhancing the organization, provision, and delivery of library information resources and services at Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, Jigawa State. The primary goal was to create a digital platform that makes information resources easily accessible to students and researchers while supporting teaching and learning activities. The study adopted an experimental research design. Tools and technologies used included Windows Server 2012-R2, a Core i5 Lenovo ThinkPad 14-inch laptop, MikroTik wireless access point router, Apache server, MySQLi database, and front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap 3. The wireless access points provided coverage within the library and up to 50 meters beyond its perimeter. Usability testing of the e-Board system was conducted by two Computer Science experts and three Library and Information Science professionals. Testing was carried out using wireless access points, Google Chrome and Firefox browsers, laptops, and mobile smartphones. Results from the usability tests indicated over 70% effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. Evaluation of key tasks (1–5) demonstrated that the e-Board could successfully accept, store, and disseminate digital information resources, allowing users to access the system via their personal devices. Based on these findings, it is recommended that libraries in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria adopt and implement similar e-Board systems to improve access to and use of digital information resources and library services.
