Dynamic Proof of Weighted Work

Authors/Creators

Description

Proof of Work demonstrated consensus based network coordination using only a rational actor security model. Here we describe a Nakamoto-style consensus mechanism that dynamically switches from a fully distributed consensus mechanism to a semi decentralized network for faster block processing. Under fault conditions the network reverts to full distribution until security levels are re-established. In this way DPoWW toggles between pure PoW and a functionally similar approach to PoS that is based purely on hash rate validation until it is required to revert to pure PoW. With the addition of a suitable hash function and parallelisation strategies this, network architecture promises to support machine learning, blockchain and enterprise level services over a single protocol.
