EFFECT OF DIGITIZATION ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF EDO STATE, NIGERIA

The study examines the effect of digitization on community development in Oredo Local Government of Edo State, Nigeria. The study utilised survey research. The questionnaires were sent to residents of the Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State. The target population for this study comprises the houses located in the Oredo local government area of Edo state.  A total of 519 questionnaires, representing the sample size for the study were administered. 401 of these questionnaires were fully filled and retrieved. The findings of the study revealed that digitization, household income, level of education and quality of governance have significant effect on community. On the contrary, healthcare expenditure and household have no significant effect on community development. The study concluded digitization has significant effect on community development in Oredo Local Government of Edo State, Nigeria. The study recommends that government should increase its investment in areas that promote growth such as digitization and other infrastructure. Moreso, government should encourage meeting the present demand in Edo State. While doing so, they should be involved in ensuring that household activities will promote community development in Edo State.
