Description

This article explores the evolution and current state of translation and translation studies, emphasizing
their role in cross-cultural communication, globalization, and intercultural understanding. Drawing
on functionalist theories, descriptive paradigms, and critical perspectives such as postcolonial
translation theory, the study demonstrates how translation extends beyond linguistic transference to
encompass cultural, ethical, and ideological dimensions. It highlights the growing importance of the
translator as an agent and the need for context-sensitive approaches in theory and practice
