Description

The 11th International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards (ISFEH 11) builds on a rich 30-year tradition, following successful seminars in Oslo (2022), St. Petersburg (2019), Hefei (2016), Providence (2013), Leeds (2010), Edinburgh (2007), Londonderry (2003), Lake Windermere (2000), and Moscow (1995, 1997). Over the years, ISFEH has grown into a key international forum for researchers, engineers, and professionals working in the field of fire and explosion science and safety.

We are proud to host ISFEH 11 at the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, from 15 to 20 June 2025, under the patronage of Sapienza University. This year’s seminar brings together contributions from around the world, offering fresh perspectives and cutting-edge research on fire and explosion hazards.

The technical program includes 93 peer-reviewed papers, selected by the Scientific Advisory Board with the help of expert reviewers. These papers, written by 342 authors from 24 countries, reflect the wide scope of topics covered by ISFEH. This Book of Abstracts presents extended summaries of those contributions and serves as a companion to the full Proceedings.

In addition to the technical sessions, we are honored to feature five plenary lectures from globally recognized leaders in the field: Vladimir Molkov (Ulster University, UK), Franco Tamanini (formerly FM, USA), Akiko Matsuo (Keio University, Japan), Michael A. Liberman (Stockholm University, Sweden), Albert Simeoni (Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA).

As in previous years, a poster session runs throughout the seminar, providing an important space for presenting work-in-progress and emerging research ideas. Poster abstracts are included in this volume as well.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all contributors, participants, and supporters of ISFEH 11, including the following institutions and companies:

 Sapienza University of Rome, Italy

 ANKO TRADING, Poland

 Delfin, Italy

 FM, USA

 Ilsap, Italy

Finally, we are deeply grateful to the reviewers, session chairs, and the Local Organizing Committee. We hope the seminar inspires meaningful discussions, new collaborations, and continued progress in the science and practice of fire and explosion safety.
