Description

This repository contains code for the Marsh Transect Wave Attenuation (MTWA) model and is a companion to the paper "Understanding Wave Attenuation Across Marshes: Insights from Numerical Modeling." MTWA is an anlytical model that reads output from a Delft-3D hydrodynamic model and transforms wave heights along cross-shore transects due to bottom roughness, shoaling, scarp effects, and drag from vegetation. The model parameters were calibrated with field data from observations in the marsh outside of Newbury, MA (archived at 10.5281/zenodo.15635830) and was created for the project Assessing storm energy reduction by the vegetated salt marsh platform in Newbury, MA. The purpose of the model was to explore wave attenuation across a marsh with different environmental scenarios (Tasks), which are described in the paper.
