Description
This paper explores the evolving landscape of Talent Management (TM) in the context of rapid technological disruption, globalization, and shifting workforce demographics, highlighting the transition from traditional intuition-based approaches to evidence-based, data-driven strategies. Drawing on multidisciplinary research from strategic human resource management, organizational behavior, and industrial practices, it examines how integrating scholarly research, organizational data, contextual understanding, and professional expertise enhances core TM functions such as talent identification, succession planning, leadership development, retention of high-potential employees, and workforce capability building.
The study emphasizes the growing importance of HR analytics, predictive modeling, and longitudinal talent tracking to provide real-time insights and enable proactive decision-making. Despite these advancements, barriers persist, including limited access to actionable research, low data literacy among HR professionals, and organizational resistance to change. The paper underscores the challenge of applying generalized research findings to specific organizational contexts, advocating for stronger collaboration between academics and practitioners to bridge this gap.
Furthermore, the research investigates how digital transformation and artificial intelligence are reshaping TM by enabling evidence-based talent forecasting, personalized development pathways, and reducing bias in talent decisions. Ethical considerations such as data privacy and equitable access to opportunities are also critically examined.
To institutionalize evidence-based TM, the paper calls for capacity building, leadership commitment, and the development of organizational learning systems that support sustainable performance in complex and competitive environments. By adopting these strategies, organizations can modernize talent management to better align with evolving workforce needs, enhance employee engagement, and maintain a competitive advantage.
