Description

Calculated values for the screened population size, numbers of false- and true-negatives and diagnostic specifity of the ARR are derived according to varying values for pret-test prevalence, sensitivity and documented numbers of true- and false-positive results for the aldosterone:renin ratio. *Screened population size is calculated from the pre-test prevalence and summed numbers of true-positive and false-negative results (i.e., patients with disease).  **Numbers of false-negative (FN) results are calculated according to the  given values for sensitivity and true-positive (TP) results (i.e., FN = TP/senstivity - TP). ***True-negative results are calculated from subtraction of the sum of TP, FP and FN results from the calculated screened population, while specificity is calculated by division of TN results by the sum of TN and FP results.
