Exploring Perceptions of Meaningful Natures in Nordhavn. Baseline Report.

Description

This report explores what constitutes meaningful nature—and for whom—in the context of a rapidly developing neighborhood in Copenhagen. Its goal is to shed light on the critical, multifunctional role urban nature plays in development processes, especially as cities face complex trade-offs between densification, climate adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. While expert assessments often emphasize the value of urban nature for climate resilience and ecological and human health, there is limited understanding of what local residents in Copenhagen consider to be “good nature,” and where they wish to see and experience it.

Notes

The report is based on the pilot project “Planning for People, Place, and Planet”, part of the Living Lab Urban Solutions to the Green Transition, supported by the Green Solutions Centre (GSC) at the University of Copenhagen.
