Remarks on the cause of scurvy and on the means by which it may be prevented in merchant ships
Authors/Creators
Description
George Budd concluded that:
“All the substances which I have mentioned as preventives of Scurvy are derived from the vegetable kingdom;
and it is probable that anti-scorbutic properties are possessed exclusively by substances of vegetable origin”.
This was a novel conclusion at that time. The symptoms of the scurvy are also described.
