THE ROLE OF GIS TECHNOLOGIES IN ASSESSING NATURAL TOURISM POTENTIAL

This article investigates the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies in evaluating and mapping natural tourism potential within specific regions, addressing the challenge of quantifying and visualizing the natural resources that enhance tourism attraction. By integrating spatial data pertaining to natural features, land use patterns, and tourism infrastructure, alongside qualitative insights regarding tourist preferences and environmental impacts, the research reveals significant patterns in the distribution of tourism resources. Key findings indicate that areas rich in biodiversity, scenic landscapes, and accessible infrastructure are strongly tied to increased tourist engagement, while also highlighting potential areas for sustainable tourism development. The significance of these results extends beyond tourism alone; they provide critical insights for healthcare by promoting the health benefits associated with ecotourism and nature-based activities. Additionally, the study underscores the potential for GIS technologies to guide policy-making in regional development, fostering collaborations between tourism, public health, and conservation efforts.
