Artifact Overview: Interview and Online Community Research Materials

This artifact package accompanies the paper titled Investigating the Impact of Online Community Involvement on Safety Practices and Perceived Risks Among People Who Use Drugs. In addition to interview-related materials, this package also includes supplementary appendix files that provide extended data, tables, and analyses referenced in the paper. These materials collectively support the transparency, clarity, and reproducibility of our study on how online community participation shapes safety practices among people who use drugs, in alignment with the principles of open science.

1. Interview Codebook.md: 

This document provides a detailed coding framework developed from the qualitative analysis. It outlines the main themes and subthemes.

2. Interview Protocol.md

This file contains the complete interview protocol, including the semi-structured question list. It ensures transparency in data collection and supports reproducibility in future studies.

3. Online Community Data Codebook.md

A codebook developed for analyzing discourse from 8 drug-related subreddits. It defines analytical categories used to assess online safety discourse, peer interactions, and harm reduction practices.

4. Consent Form – PWUD.pdf

This document contains the informed consent form provided to all interview participants (people who use drugs). It outlines the purpose of the study, participant rights, data confidentiality terms, and contact information.

5. Participants Demographic.md

Provides a detailed table of interviewee demographic information, including age, location, and substances used, as well as a visualization of the frequency of reported substances.

6. Classification of Drug-Related Discussions.md

Presents a structured taxonomy of Reddit post content, categorized into three main types and ten subcategories, with examples, prevalence percentages, and inter-coder reliability scores.

7. Safety Issues and Their Impacts Associated with Drug Use.md

Explains the five aspects of safety as experienced by PWUD with MDMA used as a representative case.
