Climate and Energy Related Norms and Attitudes - Introduction of the CERNA Assessment
Description
This study introduces the CERNA (Climate and Energy Related Norms and Attitudes) tool, designed to explore how people across six European countries perceive climate and energy issues. By examining factual knowledge, social norms, and attitudes CERNA helps identify gaps such as pluralistic ignorance - the false assumtion that the minority view is in majority - hindering climate action. The tool aims to support effective, socially informed interventions that promote long-term behavioural and policy change. This article outlines the tool’s framework and highlights preliminary findings from Ireland.
