Localisation area and envelopes surfaces for generating the vertical grid of GOSI10p3-eORCA025
Description
Ancillary files needed to generate the vertical grid of GOSI10p3.0-eORCA025, the eddy permitting UK global ocean and sea-ice configuration jointly developed by the Met Office and the National Oceanography Centre under the Joint Marine Modelling Program which employes quasi-Eulerian localised multi-envelope (ME) s-coordinates in the proximity of the Nordic overflows area while it uses z* coordinates with partial steps elsewhere in the domain.
The following files are included in this zenodo archive:
- bathymetry.loc_area-nord_ovf_025.dep2930_sig1_stn9_itr1.nc: file including the model bathymetry and the localization mask.
- bathymetry.loc_area-nord_ovf_025.dep2930_sig1_stn9_itr1.MEs_novf_gosi10_025_4env_2930_r12_r16-r075-r040-r035_it2-r030.nc: file including the model bathymetry and the four envelopes used to define the localized ME s-coordinate system.
- maximum_hpge*: files including the maximum spurious currents after 3 months long HPG tests. These files are used to smooth the envelopes and reduce the local HPG errors to an acceptable level (see Bruciaferri et al. 2024 for the details).
- hpge_timeseries_r12_r16-r075-r040-r035_it2-r030.nc: three months long timeseries of the maximum HPG error associated with the localised ME grid of GOSI10p3.0-eORCA025.
