Landscape Patterns of Shrubification in the Siberian Low Arctic
Description
This dataset supports the following paper: A. Derkacheva, G. V. Frost, H. E. Epstein, K. Ermokhina, “Landscape Patterns of Shrubification in the Siberian Low Arctic: A Machine Learning Perspective” in Journal of Ecology. http://doi.org/10.1111/1365-2745.70129
This geospatial dataset contains the data on: (i) alder shrub presence and stage according to the manual labeling and CNN processing of very-high-resolution satellite imagery, (ii) topoclimate environmental variables derived from the digital elevation model ArcticDEM, and (iii) estimates of shrub neighborhoods based on CNN-recognized shrub stages. Data covers three study areas located in the Low Siberian Arctic: near the cities of Kharp and Obskaya in the North Ural, and near Dudinka city in the Taymyr Peninsula. Satelite imagery covers about 10-year time spane for each site (circa 2010 and 2020). The data are stored as tile grids in ESRI shapefile format with the attributes. A list and the description of the attributes are provided in the attached doc.
