Report on SmartCorners technologies and user-centric vehicle control functionalities (D1.1)

Description

The SmartCorners project will mark a turning point in Electric Vehicles (EVs), leveraging the mature technology of In-Wheel Motors (IWMs) adapted for user-centric design. These motors, integrated into multifunctional modules with the powertrain, friction brake, and suspension/steering actuation, offer a compact solution that will enhance various vehicle functionalities. This integration unlocks a wide range of possibilities, redefining EV design and operation. With the adoption of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, SmartCorners will develop and implement an adaptive multilayer control strategy. By analysing historical and real-time data from vehicles, environments, and users – including relevant EV fleets – the project will drive a new idea of software-defined vehicles. This innovative approach will enable rightsizing, holistic optimization, new-generation fault reduction strategies, and personalized system operation, driving efficiency and adaptability to new levels.
