Federal dollars, academic knowledge, and research data management to advance open American criminal justice scholarship
Description
Abstract: This presentation discusses a longstanding partnership between the U.S. federal government and university-based scholars in the field of criminal justice. I discuss the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data and describe a system of mandates associated with data sharing and federally funded research grants. I conclude by describing the influence of federal policy in promoting open science through data sharing and reuse. I conclude by grounding my discussion in Giddens' theory of structuration.
