Description

The FAIR Implementation Workshop: What Is a ‘Data Champion’ and How Can They Support Good Practice in Data Management and Sharing? was held on 16 April 2025 Online.

This webinar explored the definition, qualities, and responsibilities of a ‘data champion’ and how they support effective data management and sharing. Hosted by Dr Deborah Thorpe (DANS) and Clara Linés (DCC), the session covered motivations, incentives, and the sustainability of data champion programmes, as well as their relationship with data stewards, digital archivists, and other professional services staff. It also examined how such programmes engage, retain, and replace champions, with discussion shaped by both speakers and audience input.
