FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF POLY-HERBAL FACIAL SCRUB BY USING BANANA PEEL AND INDIAN JUJUBE POWDER
Authors/Creators
Description
The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a polyherbal facial scrub using banana peel and Indian jujube (Ziziphus mauritiana) powder. These natural ingredients were selected for their exfoliating, antioxidant, and skin-nourishing properties. Banana peel is a rich source of phenolic compounds, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants that help in reducing acne, enhancing skin texture, and stimulating collagen production. Indian jujube powder offers anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits, promoting skin rejuvenation. The facial scrub was developed using various concentrations of both powders, along with natural additives like honey, aloe vera gel, and essential oils to improve the product's consistency, efficacy, and sensory appeal. The prepared formulations were subjected to various evaluation parameters including pH, texture, spreadability, grittiness, stability, and washability. Microbial analysis and skin irritation tests were also conducted to ensure the safety and suitability of the product for topical use. The optimal formulation exhibited ideal pH, effective exfoliation, pleasant texture, and no adverse skin reactions. The study supports the potential of using herbal waste and natural ingredients in developing cost-effective, eco-friendly skincare products. The formulated polyherbal scrub presents a sustainable alternative to synthetic cosmetics, offering improved skin benefits with minimal side effects.
