SEMANTIC AND LINGUOCULTURAL STUDY OF ANTITHESIS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK PROVERBS
Authors/Creators
Description
This article explores the semantic and linguocultural features of antithesis in English and Uzbek proverbs. By analyzing selected examples, the study reveals how antithetical structures reflect cultural values, ethical orientations, and communicative styles unique to each linguistic tradition. The research highlights both universal patterns and distinctive elements in the use of contrast, demonstrating how proverbs serve as mirrors of societal norms. Findings underscore the role of antithesis not only as a rhetorical device but also as a cultural tool for moral instruction and socialization within English and Uzbek-speaking communities.
