FATORES DE NÃO ADESÃO AO TRATAMENTO DO HIV POR PESSOAS TRANSEXUAIS: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA

  • 1. Divisão de Psicologia

Description

Despite the importance of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) treatment, transgender individuals face specific challenges that interfere with adherence. Thus, the aim of this study was to understand the factors influencing non-adherence to HIV treatment among transgender people. A systematic review was conducted using the Prisma method, with data gathered from the PubMed, LILACS, Scopus, PsycINFO, SciELO, and PePSIC databases. A total of 92 articles were found, of which 19 were selected based on inclusion criteria. Clinical, social, and demographic factors influencing non-adherence to treatment were identified. Gender affirmation was recognized as one of the factors for adherence, as well as the prioritization of hormone therapy. Furthermore, transgender individuals experience social vulnerability that outweighs healthcare concerns. Therefore, improvement in care is recommended, considering the vulnerabilities of this population, encompassing both individual and psychosocial aspects, as well as services and public policies.
