Digitized Historical Solar Spectroheliographic Observations 1957-1986

This dataset comprises digitized solar observations captured using a spectroheliograph in the Ca II K line at the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory between 1957 and 1986. The original data, recorded on photographic plates and films, have been scanned at high resolution and carefully processed to ensure the scientific integrity of the observations.

This dataset represents only a small fraction of the systematic observations that were continuously conducted at the observatory. Unfortunately, the remaining data suffered damage due to improper storage conditions during the difficult years following 1990.

Each file contains metadata detailing the observation date, exposure settings, and calibration data (when available). All .fits files are organized into .rar files with the corresponding year or date range. The enclosed Excel file lists the corresponding .fits file names alongside their observation dates.

This project is part of a broader initiative to preserve the historical observational records of the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory and make them publicly accessible.
