Description
In this document, we present the release of the first iteration of the SIESTA project platform.
We start with the presentation of the high level service architecture, which includes a description of the different personas involved in the platform, their roles and the
interactions they have with the different services. We also provide relationships and how the other projects involved in the same domains can share terminology and
commonalities, particularly the possible integrations with the EOSC-EU node.
We then provide implementation details of the different services that constitute the architecture. Moreover, we describe the various technical problems and shortcomings
of such an ambitious project. Confidential computing is at the bleeding edge for many of the involved technologies, often necessitating the exploration and integration of
emerging solutions that are still evolving and not yet fully production-ready. This, combined with the variety of hardware and the fact that the provider sites are all already
at the production status, have brought a number of challenges to implement confidential computing. Testing new software versions is difficult to schedule and
sometimes not feasible due to potential service disruptions. Implementing new services on the other hand is less invasive and easier to do.
Next, the current service usage from the use case are briefly summarized (the full details will be provided in the upcoming Technical Report).
