Description
The dataset is a collection of citizen-generated ecological assessments from aquatic environments across Argentina, recorded via a standardized mobile application from the project PreserVamos. Covering the period from 2016 to 2025, the dataset captures spatially explicit, semi-quantitative ecological indices along with descriptors of habitat structure, surrounding land use, exotic species presence, wildlife sightings, and human use patterns. The ecological index (‘Habitat_index’ field) is supported by up to 25 complementary variables and a precision score estimating response reliability. The database includes over 1,200 observations from diverse waterbodies and biogeographic regions. It provides a unique opportunity to analyze spatial and seasonal ecological trends, assess the effectiveness of citizen science in environmental monitoring, and inform ecosystem management. An additional dataset is included with observations from other countries (mainly from South America) as they were also valid observations sent from the mobile application of the project, yet they are not included in the data analysis.
