Sleep disorders are among the most frequent symptoms observed in Parkinson’s disease (PD), with a prevalence of 60–70%. Sleep disruption can including hypersomnia, insomnia, rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD), excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), among others. Symptoms often appear in the early stages of the disease and progressively worsen during the course of PD, representing a major factor affecting the patient’s quality of life. Herein you will find a summary of PD animal models with reported sleep disruptions. Please note, this list is not comprehensive.
