Gas leakage incidents pose significant risks to human lives, property, and the environment. Conventional gas leakage detection methods often rely on human intervention, leading to delayed responses and potential hazards. This paper proposes an IoT-based smart gas leakage detection and alert system that integrates gas sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless communication technologies to provide real-time monitoring and automated alerts. The system detects gas leaks using MQ-series sensors, processes data through an ESP8266/NodeMCU microcontroller, and sends alerts via Wi-Fi to a cloud server, mobile application, and buzzer alarm for immediate action. The proposed system enhances safety by enabling remote monitoring and real-time notifications, thereby reducing risks associated with gas leaks. Experimental results demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in detecting leaks, triggering alerts, and improving response times. The paper also discusses system architecture, plementation, and future improvements for industrial and household applications.
