CQFD: CoronaQuest Forever Documented. Case study of preservation and archiving strategies for a Swiss browser-based video game

Description

This report explores several strategies for archiving a browser-based video game, using the example of the Swiss video game CoronaQuest (2020, DNA Studios). We divide these strategies into two approaches: one aimed at documenting the game in the event that it is no longer playable or has disappeared, and the other aimed at keeping the game running. We are also exploring the possibility of producing a heritage edition on a physical medium, to preserve the data over time.

This project has been supported by Memoriav and led by the Swiss Video Game Archivists association (SVGA). It also includes the publication of a preservation guide for video game creators, based on the work of Myriam Jouhar.
