Manually Labeled Tweets for Political Misinformation Detection in Kenya: #RutoMustGo and #RejectFinanceBill2024 Dataset (May–July 2024)

The dataset comprises manually labeled tweets collected from the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), targeting content posted under the political hashtags #RutoMustGo and #RejectFinanceBill2024 between May 1 and July 31, 2024. These hashtags were central to nationwide protests and digital activism in Kenya during the period, reflecting substantial online engagement, political discourse, and content likely to include misinformation.

The data was extracted using NodeXL, with tweets collected based on keyword and hashtag matching. After extraction, the dataset underwent a manual annotation and active learning process to classify each tweet.
