Description
Documentation
This dataset accompanies the "Critical Online Edition of Eugenio Pacelli's Nunciature Reports (1917-1929)", an open-access digital scholarly edition that critically edits, annotates, and evaluates the diplomatic correspondence of Eugenio Pacelli, later Pope Pius XII, during his service as apostolic nuncio in Munich (1917-1924) and Berlin (1920-1929).
https://pacelli-edition.de/
The documents are exclusively reproduced in the respective original language. The annotation of the documents, biographies and keywords as well as the document's summaries are offered in German throughout.
The project was academically directed by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hubert Wolf and closely integrated into the structure of the Department of Medieval and Modern Church History at the University of Münster. The German Historical Institute Rome (DHIR) provided the technical infrastructure for the Pacelli edition and hosts the project's homepage. The edition was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of a twelve-year long-term project (2008-2019).
