Role of integrated farming system in climate change mitigation
Authors/Creators
Description
Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) combine crops, livestock, aquaculture, agroforestry, and renewable energy sources in a way that is both climate-resilient and sustainable. IFS decreases reliance on synthetic inputs and greenhouse gas emissions while increasing productivity, biodiversity, and nutrient recycling. By enhancing soil health, water efficiency, and carbon sequestration these systems help smallholders by creating a variety of jobs and sources of income. IFS has the potential to enhance livelihoods and ecological resilience as demonstrated by successful case studies from both India and overseas. However, infrastructure, institutional training, and supportive policies are necessary for scaling adoption. Therefore, IFS becomes an essential tactic for reducing climate change and guaranteeing food security
