Petrovitz (1981) a signalé cette espèce de diverses provinces de l’ouest de l’Iran sous le nom d’ Amphimallon caucasicum (Gyllenhal, 1817). Montreuil (2000) a établi la validité d’ A. vernale (Brullé, 1832) pour désigner cette espèce. Le taxon nommé par Gyllenhal appartient à un autre genre, Miltotrogus Reitter, 1902.
