Description

The WEAR project (2023–2028) is developing an integrative methodology for analysing the use-related shapes, transformations and wear of Neolithic stone axes from Central Europe. This methodology uses mathematical computational methods and experimental archaeology to analyse wear and shape trajectories. The project is being carried out at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Zuse Institute Berlin, and the Austrian Archaeological Institute, in cooperation with Monrepos TraceR Leiza, the State Office for Heritage Management and Archaeology of Saxony-Anhalt, and the State Museum of Baden-Württemberg.

Here, we present a brief overview of our experiments and protocols.
