  • 1. Ghent University
  • 2. Ghent University Library

Description

A demonstration of a REIL submission to the SURF-IDLab Claim Network. The split screen displays two web browsers. In the left browser the SURF Academic Mastodon is visible. In the right browser an experimental claims overview service is visible. Both pages view the profile of the fictional researcher Fetze Alsvanouds.

In the Mastodon window a new REIL contribution (a news item about involving the researcher) is added with help of new post. The post is used for information scholarly communication between peers, but also references a claims bot that is part of the Claims Network. When the toot is posted, the claims bot is notified. The claims bot will in the background create a metadata summary for the REIL contribution and update the claims overview service of the researcher. The claims bot will notify the researcher about the updates with a Mastodon notification. The researcher can visit the claims overview page and discover the new added entry. The metadata of the REIL contribution claim and provenance information is also available in an JSON-LD format.

The files expertiment1.zip and experiment2.zip contain the output of two experiments conducted on 2024-11-20 and 2024-11-22 to evaluate the software against real-world data.
