Description

Macroseismic Intensity Data (MCS) for the May 20, 2024, 18:10:03 UTC Md=4.4 Earthquake at Campi Flegrei.
The macroseismic data are collected in the HaiSentitoIlTerremoto (HSIT) database and refer to earthquakes felt in Italy (from June 15, 2007, to the present).
The reported macroseismic intensities are processed in real-time using online questionnaires submitted by volunteers through the INGV website www.hsit.it. Intensities are determined by considering all reports received from each municipality/locality and are provided according to the M.C.S. (Mercalli-Cancani-Sieberg) and E.M.S. (European Macroseismic Scale) scales.

The questionnaire-derived data are subjected to an automatic statistical filtering process but are not individually verified.
On-site verification by specialized personnel is necessary, particularly for the assignment of intensities equal to or greater than degree VI on the MCS or EMS scales.

The reported intensity values for each municipality/locality may change over time due to the increasing number of questionnaires received or adjustments to the statistical processing methods.
