DATASET FOR STUDY: Reliability of Postural Sway Measures in Healthy Adults During Single-Leg Stance: A Comprehensive Analysis Using Conventional and Complementary Error Metrics
Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset contains test-retest measurements of postural sway during single-leg stance, collected from 48 healthy adult participants (16 men, 32 women) for the study titled "Reliability of Postural Sway Measures in Healthy Adults During Single-Leg Stance: A Comprehensive Analysis Using Conventional and Complementary Error Metrics." The aim of the study was to assess the reliability of center of pressure (CoP)-derived postural sway measures using both traditional reliability indices (ICC, CV, TE, MDC) and complementary error metrics (MAE, MAPE).
Participants were asked to perform three 30-second trials of single-leg stance on a force platform during two separate sessions, with a 3-5 day gap between sessions. Various CoP-based measures were recorded, including sway velocity (anterior-posterior and medial-lateral directions), sway amplitude, sway frequency, and sway area.
The dataset includes the following variables:
-
CoP velocity (total, AP, ML)
-
CoP amplitude (AP, ML)
-
CoP frequency (AP, ML)
-
CoP sway area
-
MAE and MAPE values for each CoP variable
-
Test-retest reliability indices (ICC, TE, CV, MDC)
These data offer insights into the reliability of CoP measures in a static single-leg stance and highlight the importance of using multiple error metrics to evaluate postural control.
