EXPLORING GENDER STEREOTYPES AMONG YOUNG ADULTS

This study investigates the persistence of gender stereotypes among young adults in India. A a mixed-method approach was used, combining qualitative and quantitative data. Sixty students from Vivekanand Education Society’s Arts, Science and Commerce College participated in vignette-based interviews, while 200 students aged 18-25 from across India completed a structured questionnaire.Results revealed that gender stereotypes continue to influence young adults’ perceptions and behaviours , particularly regarding career choices, domestic roles, and interpersonal relationships. The study highlights areas for future research, including examining the long-term effects of exposure to diverse role models and the intersectionality of gender biases.
