SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE AS A MODERATOR OF PATIENT CARE QUALITY AMONG HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
Description
Patient satisfaction is essential feedback for healthcare managers, influencing nursing care quality and overall healthcare services. It provides insights into patient expectations, service improvements, and training needs (Karaca et al., 2019). Zohar and Marshall’s (2000) theory of spiritual intelligence suggests that individuals overcome challenges using spiritual resources such as purpose and values. This study examines the relationship between spiritual intelligence and patient care quality among healthcare professionals, aiming to determine whether higher spiritual intelligence leads to better patient care and improved well-being. A purposive sampling method was used to select 50 front-line healthcare professionals with 2–15 years of experience from various hospitals in Quezon City. A validated questionnaire and survey were conducted, employing statistical tools such as frequency distribution, Pearson R, multiple regression, and ANCOVA tests. Results showed no significant differences in spiritual intelligence levels among respondents from different hospitals. However, findings indicate a significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and patient care quality, supporting the alternative hypothesis. Despite demonstrating strong spiritual intelligence, healthcare practitioners require supportive interventions to enhance their well-being. The study highlights the importance of integrating spiritual intelligence into healthcare practices to improve patient care and professional satisfaction. Researchers suggest that attending webinars and training programs can enhance spiritual intelligence, ultimately benefiting healthcare professionals and patient outcomes. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the role of spiritual intelligence in healthcare, emphasizing its potential to enhance patient satisfaction and the overall quality of nursing care.
