SOME FEATURES OF MEDIEVAL EPITAPHS OF NAKHCHIVAN AND ORDUBAD

The epigraphic monuments of Nakhchivan from the 12th to 15th centuries constitute a special fund of the historical and cultural heritage created by our people over the centuries. Epigraphic materials from the 12th to 15th centuries, which are considered the renaissance period of medieval culture, are more complete and richer than the inscriptions of the later period in terms of line features, text composition, variety of material on which the inscriptions are engraved, and the importance of historical facts in the texts. Epitaphs are inscriptions written on tombstones in Arabic, Persian, and Turkish languages, providing brief information about the deceased. The study of epitaphs is important in the study of historical issues related to the Middle Ages.
